Today, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, who represents Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, announced his support for a newly passed budget reconciliation bill. The bill aims to address key issues such as relief for working families and seniors, border security, and fiscal responsibility.
“This budget delivers real relief for seniors and working families, secures our border, and reins in reckless spending,” stated Congressman Mackenzie. He emphasized that the budget addresses community needs by delivering tax relief, boosting take-home pay, and improving critical programs’ efficiency.
The bill has been approved by the U.S. House and includes significant reforms reflecting public priorities. Among the key provisions are tax relief measures that maintain current rates for high-income earners while increasing the Child Tax Credit to $2,500 per child from 2025 to 2028. Seniors earning under $75,000 will benefit from a new $4,000 deduction. The budget also prevents a potential 22% tax increase on average taxpayers.
Additional measures include eliminating federal taxes on tips and overtime pay through 2028 and introducing a deduction for interest on auto loans for American-made vehicles. Small business owners can now permanently deduct 20% of their qualified business income, with an increase to 23% in 2026.
In terms of border security, the budget allocates $69 billion to complete border barriers and hire more Border Patrol and ICE agents. It also aims to combat fentanyl trafficking and human trafficking at the southern border.
Defense investments in the budget aim to enhance U.S. military readiness by modernizing shipbuilding and missile defense systems while also investing in rural infrastructure.
Medicaid integrity is another focus of the budget with reforms such as ending benefits for illegal immigrants and adding work requirements for able-bodied adults. Medicaid spending is set to increase annually under this plan.
“This is about putting working families first—making life more affordable, our country more secure, and our government more responsible,” said Congressman Mackenzie.
The bill now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate.
