Fire and EMS groups in Emrick’s district awarded nearly $136K in state grants

Eight fire and emergency medical services organizations in Pennsylvania’s 137th Legislative District have received close to $136,000 through the 2025-26 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. State Representative Joe Emrick announced the funding on Tuesday.

Emrick expressed gratitude for the efforts of local first responders, stating, “I deeply appreciate the steadfast commitment and tireless efforts of our first responders. Their work is essential to protecting families and communities throughout the 137th District. This funding ensures these courageous men and women can continue their life-saving mission.”

The grant program supports a range of projects, including facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training initiatives, recruitment and retention activities, public education about fire safety, and debt reduction. Recipients must submit their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner before receiving funds.

The awarded grants are distributed as follows: Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 will receive $16,136.55; Nancy Run Fire Company of Butztown receives $14,899.86; Nazareth Ambulance Corps Inc. gets $15,000; Palmer Municipal Fire Department receives $16,136.55; Suburban EMS Inc. will receive $30,000; Tatamy Fire Company gets $12,426.48; Upper Nazareth Fire Department is allocated $14,899.86; and Vigilance Hose Company No. 1 receives $16,136.55.
