Actress, model, and activist Jillian Mercado is set to be the keynote speaker for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation’s annual National Speaker Event this June 2025. The live event is scheduled for June 4, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd’s South Allentown Campus, located at 850 S. 5th St.
Described as a family-friendly event, attendance is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended due to anticipated demand.
Jillian Mercado was born and raised in New York City, with Dominican roots, and was diagnosed with spastic muscular dystrophy as a child. She has become a significant figure in the fashion world, noted for challenging beauty standards and redefining norms. Mercado’s campaigns include work with brands such as Olay, Bumble 100, Calvin Klein, Nordstrom, Target, and Tommy Hilfiger. Her acting career notably includes the role of Maribel on “The L Word Generation.” Off-camera, Mercado has been an active advocate for disability representation and strives to eliminate industry stigma.
The event will feature WFMZ-TV Anchor Melanie Falcon as the guest emcee. After Mercado’s address, she will participate in a Q&A session moderated by Falcon. Mercado will be introduced by Isaiah Natale, an upcoming motivational speaker and resident at the venue.
The event will begin with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.; the main program will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Q&A at 7 p.m.
