State Rep. Milou Mackenzie announced that more than $1.6 million in Local Share Account Statewide Program funding has been awarded to municipalities and authorities in Pennsylvania’s 131st Legislative District. The grants, distributed through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, will be used for public safety, infrastructure, and emergency services projects.
“These grants will help our communities replace aging equipment, strengthen public safety, and improve essential municipal services that residents rely on every day,” said Mackenzie. “This funding supports responsible local planning and ensures our municipalities have the tools they need to operate safely and efficiently.”
The funding will support a range of projects across the district:
– Coopersburg Borough received $62,000 for a new police cruiser.
– Lower Milford Township/Fire Company No. 1 was awarded $57,692 to replace the fire station’s HVAC system.
– Marlborough Township secured $62,962 for a police vehicle and $159,060 for a new backhoe for public works.
– Salisbury Township obtained $663,733 to update emergency services radio equipment.
– Souderton Borough/Volunteer Medical Service Corps received $134,141 for cardiac monitors and defibrillator devices serving several townships.
– Upper Hanover Township was granted $243,576 for a new dump truck for roadway maintenance.
– Upper Montgomery Joint Authority got $49,740 for vehicles and equipment and $121,326 for pump station improvements including generator installation.
– Upper Perkiomen Police Department received $128,728 for equipment purchases and patrol vehicle support.
The Local Share Account Statewide Program is funded by gaming revenues as authorized under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. The program aims to improve quality of life by supporting projects that enhance public safety and infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania.
