Rep. Milou Mackenzie announced on May 5 that veterans and their families can access Veteran Assistance Hours each month at her Red Hill and Bethlehem offices.

These sessions aim to provide support for local veterans by offering help with compensation, pension, death benefits, education, healthcare, and other services. The initiative is designed to make these resources more accessible for those who have served.

Veteran Assistance Hours are scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Red Hill office located at 56 W. Fourth St., Red Hill, and Wednesday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem office located at 1425 Mountain Dr. N., Bethlehem. Mackenzie said membership in the American Legion is not required to access these services.

Mackenzie represents the 131st Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and serves on committees related to children, youth, education, housing, community development and human services while assisting constituents with state programs; she also sponsored a law permitting military children to register in school districts according to the official website. She contributes to community efforts including services for veterans and support for small business owners as well as serving on the PennSERVE Community Service Advisory Board according to the official website.

Mackenzie is described as a lifelong Lehigh Valley resident and eighth-generation Pennsylvanian who graduated from Nazareth Area Senior High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in English from Cedar Crest College; she lives with her husband—a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and veteran—in Lower Saucon Township along with being mother of two sons and grandmother of four according to the official website.
