December "Primetime Pards" Features David Bednar ‘17

David Bedar '17, current pitcher in the San Diego Padres organization, is the featured Primetime Pards guest on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. Lafayette alumni received invitations via email to register for Primetime Pards. Because of Zoom participation limitations, early registration for Primetime Pards is encouraged.

While at Lafayette, Bednar was a three-year member of the baseball team appearing as a right-handed pitcher. He finished his career with the Leopards with a 7-16 overall record, recording an 3.79 ERA over 166.1 innings. He threw eight complete games while striking out 188 batters. His 188 strikeouts currently puts him third all-time in career strikeouts in the Lafayette record book.

Bednar was selected in the 35th round as the 1044 overall pick by the San Diego Padres in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major league debut last season on Sept. 1, 2019 and appeared in 13 games for the Padres, pitching 11.0 innings with a 6.55 ERA and striking out 14. In 2020, Bednar appeared in 14 games for the Padres, pitching in 6.1 innings and striking out five.

Primetime Pards is a year-long monthly alumni engagement series presented by Lafayette Athletics in partnership with the Communications and Development divisions of the College. Each edition of Primetime Pards is hosted by Gary Laubach of the Lafayette Sports Network on Zoom and features a guest alum.
