FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The requested records include a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024. The fields that we are specifically interested in are: Vendor Name, Transaction Date, Transaction Description, and Amount.
As members of the media, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from Dekalb County regarding this request and will continue our commitment towards transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
