Good Shepherd Rehabilitation’s Women’s Giving Circle has donated $57,500 to support new technology in the pediatric unit. This group is dedicated to making a philanthropic impact and is open to all women interested in supporting Good Shepherd’s mission and improving the lives of people with disabilities.
The funds raised by the Women’s Giving Circle are directed each year towards a specific initiative at Good Shepherd, chosen through a vote by its members. In June 2025, pediatric physical therapist Dakota Dione learned that her proposal for a functional electrical stimulation device was selected.
This technology aids children as young as four years old who have spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and neurological and genetic disorders. It works by stimulating 12 muscle groups during sessions, preventing muscle atrophy, relaxing muscle spasms, improving blood circulation, maintaining or increasing range of motion, and facilitating muscle re-education.
The device will be integrated into Good Shepherd’s Jump Start Program, an intensive short-term inpatient rehabilitation program located in Bethlehem.
“Thank you to Women’s Giving Circle for your generosity and support.”
