#BringTheRoar Raises More than $200K for Lafayette Athletics Women's Basketball wins Athletics Challenge

The Lafayette College #BringTheRoar challenge last week, centered around Rivalry Week when Lafayette and Lehigh typically square off in college football's most-played rivalry, raised more than $214,000 for Lafayette Athletics.

"The outpouring of support from the Lafayette community during last week's #BringTheRoar challenge was inspiring," director of athletics Sherryta Freeman said. "As we await the return to play for our athletic programs, this serves as yet another reminder that the Lafayette community will not allow our climb to the top of the hill to be haltered by a pandemic. We look forward to the opportunity to compete again, but until then we simply say thank you for helping us Bring the Roar!"

The #BringTheRoar Athletics Challenge saw more than 2,000 donors give to each of Lafayette's 23 Division I programs with women's basketball earning the overall prize given an impressive percentage of alumni donors. Women's basketball took home the extra $2,000 for its program by winning the maroon division, and earned an additional $2,000 for capturing the overall prize. Golf was the black division champion, while field hockey won in the white division and men's lacrosse paced the gold division.

"The Friends of Women's Basketball Executive Committee did an outstanding job galvanizing our alumnae, family and friends for this year's #BringTheRoar challenge," women's basketball head coach Kia Damon-Olson added. "2020 has been a tough year for everyone and we wanted to use this opportunity to bring our family together for a common goal. We are appreciative of every phone call, text and direct message sent to help us secure our first championship of the 2020-2021 season."
