Rep. Milou Mackenzie announced that two municipalities in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, will receive state funding for improvements in roadway and pedestrian safety through the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
Pennsburg Borough has been allocated $168,876 to enhance pedestrian and roadway safety along 11th Street. This project is expected to benefit residents and travelers in Pennsburg Borough, Red Hill Borough, and Upper Hanover Township. Additionally, Green Lane Borough will receive $200,000 for Phase 2 of pavement restoration across several roadways.
“These grants represent an important investment in the safety and infrastructure of our local communities,” Mackenzie stated. “Ensuring our roads and pedestrian pathways are maintained and improved not only enhances travel but also supports local economic growth and quality of life. I am very happy that Pennsburg and Green Lane can move forward with these very important projects!”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to encourage economic development by providing grants to maintain a safe transportation system for Pennsylvania residents. Funds from this program may be used for developing, rehabilitating, and enhancing transportation assets within existing communities. This includes streetscape improvements, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety measures, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
