Lafayette College Pubc Safety issued the following announcement on Sept. 22.

Lafayette College is celebrating the installation of Nicole Farmer Hurd as its 18th president with a week of events and activities.

While the inauguration on Oct. 1 will be steeped in Lafayette’s history and traditions, all of the activities leading up to this event are a celebration of the College’s commitment to its core mission of educating tomorrow’s leaders.

The events provide President Hurd with opportunities to engage with students and their families, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

Family Weekend

Inauguration week activities will kick off with Family Weekend, an annual tradition that enables families to spend time with their students on campus. This year’s festivities, which will take place Sept. 24-26, include a community service activity in Easton, a tour of the College’s new on-campus solar array, a lacrosse clinic for kids grades K-6, TED Talks featuring faculty presenters, and a number of athletic events. On Sept. 27, President Hurd and her husband, Bill, will host morning coffee conversations with administrative staff. The Hurds also will host a trivia night on the Quad for students that evening. On Sept. 29, faculty and staff will attend an evening reception followed by a lecture from Prof. Eric P. Bettinger of Stanford Graduate School of Education. And on Sept. 30, members of the campus community will participate in United Way Day of Caring volunteer activities for several Easton-based organizations.
