On March 26, 2024, Rep. Joe Emrick (R-Northampton) declared that a $1 million state reinvestment was allocated to the 137th District to support local transportation infrastructure projects. The funds are part of multimodal funding grants distributed throughout Pennsylvania. Emrick highlighted specific grants awarded within the district, including Bethlehem Township receiving $341,963 for an emergency traffic signal installation at the intersection of Ninth Street and Freemansburg Avenue, and Lower Nazareth Township securing $725,000 for intersection improvements at Butztown Road.

Emrick expressed his satisfaction with the grants by stating, "These grants represent a significant state reinvestment into our community, and I am proud to have worked with local officials to help secure this funding for these critical projects."

The selection of grant recipients is based on various criteria such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability. The Multimodal Transportation Fund, from which these grants originate, aims to stimulate economic development and ensure the availability of a safe and reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents.
