Rep. Milou Mackenzie is organizing a public paper shredding event to assist residents in safeguarding their personal information against identity theft. The event will take place on Saturday, October 19, at Hope Valley Community Church, located at 501 Garber Alley, Red Hill, from 10 a.m. to noon.
“I’m pleased to offer this free document shredding event as a way to help residents safely dispose of sensitive documents and protect themselves from identity theft,” stated Mackenzie. She emphasized the importance of taking precautions to prevent personal information from being misused and encouraged community members to utilize this service.
Residents are allowed to bring up to four boxes of paperwork per vehicle for shredding. Staples and paper clips do not need removal; however, documents should be removed from binders and notebooks. Attendees are required to stay in their vehicles while staff and volunteers handle the unloading of documents for shredding.
The event is specifically for residents of the 131st Legislative District, with businesses requested to manage their own document disposal. To ensure efficiency due to high demand, no boxes will be accepted before the official start time, and shredding will be conducted on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
For further details about the event, individuals can contact Rep. Milou Mackenzie's office at 610-965-5830 or visit her website.
