Rep. Milou Mackenzie has announced nearly $1 million in grant funding for various projects within Pennsylvania's 131st District. The funds, sourced from the Public School Facilities Improvement Grant Program and Local Share Account (LSA), aim to enhance community infrastructure and services.
"I am extremely grateful that nearly one million dollars in state funding will soon be coming into the 131st District for a variety of projects," said Mackenzie. "The much-needed improvements will greatly enhance the lives of our residents and give relief to our local governments."
The Salisbury Township School District will receive $484,818 from the Public School Facilities Improvement Program for safety upgrades at Salisbury Township Middle School in Lehigh County.
Several projects are funded through the Local Share Account Statewide initiative:
- Coopersburg Municipal Authority is allocated $144,548 for purchasing a backhoe.
- Lower Saucon Township receives $125,000 to install permanent restroom facilities at their trailhead.
- Marlborough Township is granted $77,284 to restore a nineteenth-century barn used as a storage facility for public works equipment.
- Upper Hanover Township is awarded $37,500 to study its sewer management system at Perkiomen Heights.
- Upper Montgomery Joint Authority secures $124,004 for pump station repairs and manhole rehabilitation across Upper Hanover Township.
The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program supports eligible facility improvement projects within public school districts and technical schools. The LSA funds stem from state gaming revenues under Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act 71 of 2004. These grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority board in Harrisburg.
