Rep. Zach Mako has announced the allocation of $1.5 million in state funds for a new public works building in Lehigh Township, Northampton County. The funding was secured through the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which Mako supported.

"Lehigh Township’s current public works facility was built in 1958," Mako stated. "This aging facility cannot meet the current needs of the township and having to store equipment outside in a variety of weather conditions has resulted in rust, early deterioration and decreased longevity of the life of this equipment. I’m pleased to be able to assist with the needed funding to get this project completed."

The planned facility will be constructed on vacant land within the existing municipal complex. It will accommodate all trucks and equipment, featuring a lift and two service bays. Additionally, there will be a separate storage area for signs, barricades, and other supplies to reduce clutter and tripping hazards. The building will also include an office/training room, lunchroom, and modern bathroom facilities with showers.

The project's funding was approved by lawmakers under the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act.

Until November 30, the 183rd District encompasses parts of South Whitehall, Washington, Whitehall townships, Slatington Borough in Lehigh County, as well as Allen, Lehigh, Moore townships (part), North Catasauqua, Northampton, and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.
