FOIA Request to Northampton County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025. The request was made by us at Northhampton News as part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the interest of transparency and public accountability, we have requested a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq. We have asked for this information preferably in an electronic format for ease of dissemination.
The specifics of our request include each candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction of office, and party affiliation. In addition to these details about each candidate's political candidacy, we have also requested their contact information. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to reporting news to the public and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also expressed our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information.
We continue to wait for a response from the Northampton County Election Department regarding our request.
