Rep. Zach Mako and Sen. Jarrett Coleman have announced the successful acquisition of a $250,000 grant aimed at enhancing Neffs Valley Park in North Whitehall Township. The funding was secured through the Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program under the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

Mako and Coleman were instrumental in advocating for this grant, which is part of several initiatives funded by the Marcellus Legacy Fund programs established under Act 13 of 2012. These programs support projects focused on planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, and parks.

"This park is the only one in the northwest region of the township," stated Mako. "As such, the improvements will create more recreational opportunities closer to home for residents. I’m pleased to see these plans come to fruition."

Coleman added, "Adding accessibility features and additional parking will help more members of our community enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. I’m pleased that Rep. Mako and I were able to secure funding to help fund improvements at Neffs Park."

The allocated funds will be used for various enhancements including reconstructing streambanks; adding an ADA-compliant multi-use walking trail; installing a footbridge over Coplay Creek; and constructing a parking lot at the park.

The 183rd House District encompasses Lowhill and North Whitehall townships as well as Slatington Borough in Lehigh County. It also includes Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships along with Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.
