State Representative Zach Mako | Pennsylvania 83rd Legislative District
Rep. Zach Mako has announced that 17 fire and emergency medical service companies within the 183rd Legislative District have received grants totaling nearly $240,000. The funds are sourced from state gaming proceeds as mandated by state law, a program initiated in 2000 to support volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services, and rescue squads across Pennsylvania.
The grants can be utilized for various purposes including construction or repair of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, debt reduction, and training. The distribution of funds is contingent upon the recipients submitting their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
“This grant program provides vital funds for smaller projects that assist fire and ambulance service personnel care for members of our community,” stated Mako. “It helps reduce the fundraising burden and lets our emergency responders focus more on coming to our aid in an emergency. I strongly support our first responders and will continue to advocate for their needs.”
