Rep. Joe Emrick of Northampton announced the distribution of nearly $1 million in gaming grants to benefit projects within the 137th Legislative District. These funds are sourced from the Local Share Account (LSA), which is funded by gaming revenues from casinos located in Northampton and Monroe counties. Importantly, these grants do not utilize taxpayer dollars.
Emrick emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, "LSA grants support a variety of important needs in our local communities." He added that this program significantly reduces financial pressure on municipalities, which would otherwise depend on taxpayers for essential infrastructure upgrades and public safety equipment acquisitions.
The grants are awarded through a competitive process.
