State Representative Joe Emrick has announced the allocation of over $2.8 million in state grant funding to several townships and a historical society through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The grants were approved during the CFA Board meeting under various programs, including the Small Water and Sewer Program (SWS), Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Water Projects Program (H2O), and the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR).

"The funds approved today are vital investments as we continue to maintain our infrastructure and preserve our historical heritage," stated Emrick. "I’m incredibly happy to announce the approval of these grant dollars for the communities’ benefit, as it ultimately helps the taxpayers avoid additional tax increases."

The funding will support several projects: The Moravian Historical Society will receive $12,029 in PACR funding for new programs and marketing at its museum in Nazareth Borough. Bethlehem Township is set to obtain $700,000 in H20 funding for stormwater piping installation on Walnut Street. Hanover Township will receive $1.6 million for a sewer extension project at Chaucer Lane and Lord Byron Drive. Palmer Township is allocated $250,000 for a sanitary sewer extension project, while Upper Nazareth Township will get $300,000 in SWS funding for a storm water system upgrade.

These grants draw from multiple sources, primarily federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds designated for recreation and conservation in previous Pennsylvania state budgets.
