Grant funding has been awarded to first responder companies in the 137th District through the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, as announced by Rep. Joe Emrick of Nazareth.
Seven fire companies and ambulance squads within the district received grants from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
"Our first responders make sacrifices for us every day to serve and protect our community," said Emrick. "I am grateful this funding has been awarded to those who ensure the safety of our local residents through their service."
The recipients of these grants include Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, which received $16,322.02; Nancy Run Fire Company of Butztown with $8,394.00; Palmer Municipal Fire Department with $16,322.02; Suburban EMS Inc receiving $28,143.00; Tatamy Fire Company with $12,223.63; Upper Nazareth Fire Department with $15,030.95; and Vigilance Hose Company No. 1 receiving $16,106.84.
The grant program is funded by slot machine gaming proceeds rather than General Fund tax revenue and is administered by both the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
