Flood announces over $4M in grants for Northampton County projects

State Representative Ann Flood has announced that Northampton County will receive over $4 million in Local Share Account grant funding. These funds are intended to support various projects focused on improving infrastructure, public safety, and community resources within the 138th Legislative District.

"I'm thrilled that these vital resources have been allocated to improve our community. This funding will enhance our infrastructure, public safety and overall quality of life for residents," stated Rep. Flood. She expressed gratitude towards her colleagues and local leaders for their collaborative efforts in securing this financial support.

Projects in Bushkill Township include $500,000 for park improvements such as security cameras and tennis court renovations, $750,000 for a new heavy rescue truck for the Volunteer Fire Company, and $75,760 for a police command vehicle to bolster the township’s drone program.

Forks Township is set to receive $500,000 for the first phase of Frutchey Hill Road reconstruction after storm damage compromised emergency access routes.

In Moore Township, funding allocations include $69,775 for a crack sealer machine, $65,000 for two police vehicles, $25,000 for an asphalt roller, $50,000 for an upfitted work truck to maintain roads and $30,348 to replace speed enforcement equipment.

Pen Argyl Borough will benefit from several initiatives including a new fire engine costing $750,000 to replace outdated vehicles at Lookout Fire Company. Additionally, Weona Park Pool will undergo phase one of modernization with a budget of $350,000 while Slate Belt Regional Police radios will see a communication upgrade with a fund allocation of $150,000.

Roseto Borough's municipal operations are set to improve with the purchase of a backhoe priced at $100,000. Upper Mount Bethel Township plans expansions costing $350,000 on its fire company building to function as an emergency shelter.

Washington Township aims to replace an old wooden sign with an LED electronic version at the cost of $40,000. Meanwhile in Wind Gap Borough renovation works on Male Road Bridge will proceed with an investment of $650,000 ensuring safer passageways for both pedestrians and vehicles.

These grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority which oversees Pennsylvania's economic growth through program funding sourced from gaming revenues.
