Rep. Ann Flood of Northampton has announced the allocation of $260,254 in grant funding to support fire and emergency medical services (EMS) in Pennsylvania's 138th District. The funds aim to bolster local emergency response teams.
"As an advocate for the safety of our communities, I am thrilled that funding has been awarded to support our emergency responders," said Flood. "These vital funds will strengthen our local fire and EMS teams, ensuring they have the resources needed to continue delivering life-saving services to the people of the 138th District."
The grants have been distributed among various EMS and fire companies within the district. Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Co., Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Co., Suburban EMS Inc., and Wind Gap Ambulance Corps Inc. are among those receiving financial support.
Fire companies in Bangor, Bushkill Township, East Bangor, Martins Creek, Mount Bethel, Pen Argyl, Portland, Roseto, and Plainfield Township have also been awarded grants.
The funding is part of a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. It is financed through proceeds from slot machine gaming rather than General Fund tax revenue. Eligible projects include facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training programs, recruitment efforts, public education on fire prevention, and debt reduction.
