Rep. Milou Mackenzie is organizing a free paper shredding event on Saturday, October 19, at Hope Valley Community Church in Red Hill. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon and aims to help residents protect themselves from identity theft by safely disposing of sensitive documents.
“I’m pleased to offer this free document shredding event as a way to help residents safely dispose of sensitive documents and protect themselves from identity theft,” Mackenzie stated. “It’s important to take steps to ensure your personal information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands, and I encourage everyone in the community to take advantage of this convenient service.”
Residents are allowed to bring up to four boxes of paperwork per vehicle for shredding. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed, but documents should be out of binders and notebooks. Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles while staff and volunteers handle the unloading process.
The event is specifically for residents of the 131st Legislative District, and businesses are advised to manage their own document disposal needs. No boxes will be accepted before the start time due to the popularity of these events. Shredding services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
