The American Legion Auxiliary recently donated $10,000 to The American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation, and $2,500 to the Child Welfare Foundation. The American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation – formerly known as the American Legion Endowment Fund – has delivered over $30 million in financial assistance for disabled veterans, military families and young people. The foundation provides Temporary Financial Assistance grants to eligible active-duty servicemembers and American Legion members with minor children in the home. These grants provide immediate financial assistance when food, shelter, utilities, clothing or other basic needs cannot be obtained, due to hardships. The foundation also supports more than 2,500 accredited American Legion service officers who provide free assistance to veterans and their families for health-care benefits, education and employment opportunities.

The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation provides grants to nonprofits for projects that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children. Since the foundation made its first three grants in 1955, nearly $16 million has been awarded to assist the needs of children.
