Gov. Tom Wolf has reminded residents who need financial assistance to go through the Pennie, which is the state’s website with a goal of educating and assisting people in searching for the right health plan.

Pennie is an “online one-stop-shop” for health care coverage, according to a press release by the governor’s office. It is not only available for those looking into financial assistance but also for someone experiencing a “life event,” which includes things like moving to a new part of the state or losing coverage from another provider.

“Pennie is making health care more affordable than ever here in Pennsylvania and I urge anyone who is seeking affordable health care coverage to visit pennie.com today to start weighing their options, and to hopefully take advantage of the quality health care and services available,” said Wolf. “Having quality health insurance is a fundamental right all Pennsylvanians deserve. My administration has made exploring these benefits more readily accessible, right from your own home – you can calculate potential savings, check out coverage options, and enroll in the best plan for you, your family and your budget.”

The Pennie has recently made improvements in the marketplace, including additional details about 2023 plans.

Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Mike Humphrey is also encouraging residents to shop for the best plan to meet the financial needs for both  the family and the individual. He said people who are already enrolled in a plan should also check Pennie, as there may be a better rate.

“The Wolf Administration has remained dedicated to the health, well-being and financial security of all Pennsylvanians and has taken various paths to educate consumers about the importance of health insurance before, during and after COVID-19,” said Humphreys. “Governor Wolf and I know Pennsylvanians want and deserve equal access to health coverage, including increased options within the individual market.”

Open enrollment for health and dental coverage through the Pennie is November 1 to January 15.
