Rep. Zach Mako and Sen. Jarrett Coleman have announced the successful acquisition of a $250,000 grant aimed at enhancing Neffs Valley Park in North Whitehall Township. The funding was secured through the Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program, which is part of the Commonwealth Financing Authority's initiatives under Act 13 of 2012.

The grant will be utilized for various improvements within the park, including reconstructing streambanks, adding an ADA-compliant walking trail, building a footbridge over Coplay Creek, and constructing a parking lot. These enhancements are expected to increase accessibility and recreational opportunities for local residents.

"This park is the only one in the northwest region of the township," said Rep. Mako. "As such, the improvements will create more recreational opportunities closer to home for residents. I’m pleased to see these plans come to fruition."

Sen. Coleman added, "Adding accessibility features and additional parking will help more members of our community enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. I’m pleased that Rep. Mako and I were able to secure funding to help fund improvements at Neffs Park."

The area served by this initiative includes parts of Lehigh County such as Lowhill and North Whitehall townships and Slatington Borough, as well as areas in Northampton County including Allen, East Allen, Lehigh and Moore townships (part), Bath, North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs.
