1.5 million allocated for power plant improvement in Northampton County

State Representative Ann Flood | Pennsylvania 138th Legislative District

Rep. Ann Flood of Northampton has announced a $1.5 million grant for a project at the Portland Power Plant in the 138th District. The funding, provided through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), is aimed at addressing hazardous materials and demolishing one of the boilers at the site.

Upper Mount Bethel Township in Northampton County will utilize this grant to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and proceed with necessary demolition work. Rep. Flood emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “This critical investment will enable Northampton County to safely address hazardous materials at the Portland Power Plant site and proceed with the demolition of one of the boilers, paving the way for future development and ensuring a healthier environment for our community.”

Flood expressed her commitment to securing essential funding for her district and acknowledged the support received in obtaining these grants. The RACP is managed by the Office of the Budget and supports projects related to economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvements.
